2015 set a new record for displaced populations worldwide: 59.5 million people. 

On December 4th, an advance, unedited version of the UN Secretary-General’s synthesis report on the post-2015 agenda was released: “The Road to Dignity by 2030: Ending Poverty, Transforming All Lives and Protecting the Planet.” The report will be formally issued in the six official languages of the UN on December 31st.

The Escazú Agreement is groundbreaking for the region and the world, but the hard work performed by governments and civil society to draft and adopt it will only bear fruit through implementation. Congratulations to our 2014 World Justice Challenge grantees! The World Justice Project has awarded seed grants to 15 startup initiatives including projects focused on advancing labor rights for cotton pickers in Pakistan, promoting equal treatment for women soccer players in Brazil, developing an open-source, online civic participation platform, and more.

More than 17 million rural families—children, women and men—across India are invisible. They are invisible to the government and to society because they do not own any land. They do not appear in any government records and that means they cannot access a wide variety of existing and new government services.
