Founded in 2004, The Women's Foundation promotes the participation of women and girls, and raises awareness to combat gender stereotypes and poverty. Their programs include research, advocacy, and leadership education and mentorship.
It carries out theoretical and evidence-based research to inform policy proposals that effectuate change. It cultivates socially engaged future leaders, through fellowships, with a broad perspective and deep insight, both in Japan and overseas.

It works in advancing knowledge to public and private sector entities through sound policy research findings, capacity development, and by advocating good development management practices. They implemented the initiative Tanzania Online, an online corruption forum.
