2019 World Justice Challenge Applicant - Project Title: M-Haki-'Haki Mkononi'
Founded in 1973, It is the oldest legal aid and human rights organization in Kenya. It works to empower the poor and marginalized, and to enhance equity and access to justice for all.
The Center has more than 30 years experience working for the rights of women in Peru. Through participation in the legislative process, participation, expression and action of women in the democratic sphere, training and knowledge sharing, it has sustained and transformed gender equality in Peru.
BALAOD Mindanaw works with marginalized sectors and communities in Mindanaw through alternative lawyering and paralegalism, stressing active non-violence as an integral part thereof in the advancement of justice, gender equality, and resource tenure improvement in the context of active people's participation in Governance.
Works to defend persons who are victims of domestic violence, through help centers, helpline and legal assistance and surveys on domestic violence with population and police.
Produces reports and tries to find innovative ways of encouraging civic participation, integration and goverment monitoring through citizen initiatives.
The Commission was inaugurated in 1987 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and relocated to Banjul, Gambia in 1989. Its mission is the protection and promotion of human rights, and the jurisprudence of the African Charter on Human and Peoples' Rights.
