The WJP Rule of Law Index is the world’s leading source for original data on the rule of law, relying on over 110,000 household and expert surveys to measure how the rule of law is experienced and perceived by the general public worldwide. The 2017-2018 edition covers 113 countries and offers scores and rankings reflecting government openness and accountability, access to justice, corruption, human rights, security, and more.

Following an introduction of the latest Index findings, a panel will discuss the state of the rule of law, particularly in the context of Sustainable Development Goal 16 (SDG 16), which calls for all countries to measure and improve the accountability of their institutions, security of their citizens, and the accessibility of justice for all of their people.
