Graciela is passionate about human rights. She studied Law in Escuela Libre de Derecho and holds a Master’s in Human Rights from the Carlos III University of Madrid. Since 2010, she is professor of Human Rights at the Escuela Libre de Derecho. Currently, her professional activities are focused on the pursuit of equal access to human rights, open justice, elimination of gender-based violence, the mainstreaming of gender and intersectional perspectives in access to justice, public policy, quantitative and qualitative research, human rights advocacy, and legal education.
She has provided specialized consulting services for several United Nations Agencies such as UNWOMEN, UNICEF, UNDP and UNODC, civil society organizations, public institutions, foundations and companies. Previously, she was executive director of the Mexican Commission for the Defense and Promotion of Human Rights (CMDPDH), advisor to the Director of Equal Rights and Gender Parity of the Electoral Federal Court and of the ombudsman of Mexico City, and Deputy General Manager of Legal Affairs and Victim Services of the National Commission for the Prevention and Eradication of Violence against Women (CONAVIM). She also has practiced impact human rights litigation before both national courts and the Inter-American and Universal Systems of Human Rights.
