From 1 July 2023, Philippa is the Group Legal Director for Shell plc, leading a team of 1000 legal and compliance professionals based across the globe.

Philippa was previously General Counsel for Trading and Supply based in London. She joined Shell in 2005 after a decade of working in private practice as a barrister at English and American law firms, specialising in structured finance.

Since then, she has gone on to hold legal roles in every one of Shell’s business departments, acting as Senior Legal Counsel in Gas and Power and in Corporate. During her time at Shell, she has held several advisory roles, including special advisor to EU Commission’s Director General Internal Markets on securities laws. She also represented Shell on a committee which worked with the UK government on the introduction of the Companies Act 2006.

Philippa holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Sheffield and an LLM degree in Commercial and Corporate Law from University College London.

She is married and has three sons.
