Director

John Nery is a journalist from the Philippines. 

He is a columnist and editorial consultant at Rappler, the hard-hitting social news network, and a convenor of the Consortium on Democracy and Disinformation. He is also a member of the board of trustees of the Asian Center for Journalism at the Ateneo de Manila University, and a lecturer in media and politics.

He was previously with the Philippine Daily Inquirer; for 20 years, he served in a variety of capacities, but primarily as senior editor, editorial writer, and columnist. He represented the newspaper on the executive board of the Asia News Network from 2014 to 2018. 

He is the author of "Revolutionary Spirit: Jose Rizal in Southeast Asia," published in Singapore by the Institute of Southeast Asian Studies and in Manila by the Ateneo de Manila University Press. He was a Visiting Research Fellow in ISEAS, a Nieman Fellow in Journalism at Harvard University, and a Society of Publishers in Asia awardee in opinion writing.
