Join the World Justice Project in urgent action to shore up eroding rule of law in the United States by giving to the Building Trust campaign. The U.S. ranks 26th out of 142 countries in the WJP Rule of Law Index, the world’s leading source for original, independent rule of law data. The Index data reflects a dramatic decline in Americans’ trust in institutions designed to guarantee the rule of law and the principle that no one is above the law. For example, in 2021, only 58% of people said they believed Americans can vote freely without feeling harassed or pressured—a sharp drop from the 91% who said so in 2016.
Your support will combat these alarming trends and uphold and strengthen the rule of law in the United States. Your gift to the Building Trust campaign will result in: 1) a national poll that will reveal how people across the United States perceive and experience the rule of law in 2024; 2) support for local champions to stand up for democratic institutions and the rule of law through events, education, capacity-building, and other engagement activities based on the poll results; and 3) development of a U.S. subnational rule of law index that will reveal rule of law strengths, challenges and discrepancies across the 50 states, to be produced in 2025.
A challenge match from a generous donor will provide $1 for every $2 you give to the Building Trust campaign.
