Leading Organizations

It was founded in 2002 by members of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD). It is an initiative that aims to build a sustainable peace in the region through the prevention of violence and conflict through the collection and analysis of data, the dissemination of information, and the implementation of projects.

It promotes transparency and accountability in public offices, enterprises, and organizations by offering ethics and anti-corruption education and by mobilizing the public against corruption and impropriety.

It is an association of NGO's and CSO's that serves as a forum for collective action and promotes the growth of civil society by supporting member organizations in capacity building and strengthening their collective voice. It was the first legally registered association of NGOs/CSOs in Ethiopia and has operated since 1973.

It is the local chapter of Transparency International and has worked in Ethiopia since 2002. It builds coalitions with the private sector, civil society organizations, and the government to prevent corrupt practices, strengthen public institutions, and foster a deep-rooted anti-corruption culture.

The Initiative seeks to improve transparency and accountability in publicly financed construction projects through the public disclosure of information. CoST is managed by a multi-stakeholder coalition that represents the interests of the government, the private sector, and the civil society.

It is a collective of nine Amharic language bloggers who work together to create an alternative and independent platform of ideas concerning the socio-political situation of Ethiopia.

It is a social justice and impact driven feminist social enterprise that supports organizations and individuals in the promotion of gender equality and transformative feminist leadership through tailor-made workshops, seminars, research, and project/program design.

It documents and provides information to the public concerning court cases of people accused of terrorism. It denounces arbitrary detention of dissenters by the government and monitors the appropriate use of the Anti-Terrorism Proclamation of 2009.

It supports small and medium Ethiopian enterprises that are developing innovative solutions to address the challenges of climate change. The initiative is supported by the World Bank’s program infoDev, UK Aid, and the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

It is an initiative to strengthen the use of social accountability tools, approaches, and mechanisms by citizens, civil society organizations, local government officials, and service providers. It is financed through a World Bank multi-donor trust fund.

It promotes and facilitates disability inclusive development, economic empowerment, and the improvement of healthcare and educational services. It fosters the inclusion of disability issues and persons with disabilities in mainstream government and non-governmental service delivery and development programs.

It is the national employers organization with branches throughout the country. It offers training, legal advice on labor and industrial relations, and mediation services for issues pertaining to employment. It also participates in the revision and analysis of policies and collective bargaining processes.

It contributes to increased agricultural productivity and nutrition quality, sustainable food security, economic development, and conservation of natural resources and the environment.
