Mr. Mark Agrast is the chair of the World Justice Project's Rule of Law Index, and has overseen the development of the Index since its inception. Until May 2009, he was a Senior Fellow at the Center for American Progress in Washington, D.C., where his work focused on the Constitution, national security and the rule of law. He previously served for over a decade as a senior congressional aide and practiced with a large international law firm. He currently serves in the U.S. Department of Justice.
Mr. Agrast is a longtime leader of the American Bar Association and a member of its House of Delegates. He has served in many capacities, including as chair of the ABA's Section of Individual Rights and Responsibilities, chair of the ABA Commission on Immigration, and a member of the Executive Committee of the Board of Governors. He is a member of the American Law Institute and a Life Fellow of the American Bar Foundation.
Mr. Agrast received his B.A. summa cum laude from Case Western Reserve University. He attended Oxford University as a Rhodes Scholar and received his law degree from Yale Law School.
