Cooper Denison is the 2026 Rule of Law Intern at the World Justice Project. Working full-time with the Rule of Law Index Team, Cooper’s responsibilities include expert data collection, database management, and report production for the WJP Rule of Law Index ®. By leveraging his experience and research interests in Sub-Saharan Africa, Cooper hopes to strengthen WJP’s connections with legal experts throughout the region while expanding the impact of its flagship report. He also provides research and administrative support to other WJP projects, such as the U.S. Subnational Study and the Environmental Governance Project in Southeast Asia.
Prior to joining WJP, Cooper gained valuable experience working for non-profit organizations around the world. He has previously held research positions at the Kenya Human Rights Commission in Nairobi, Kenya; Genocide Watch in Washington D.C.; and an assistantship at the Vienna State Opera in Vienna, Austria. His research interests include constitutional law, humanitarian policy, and government/civil society relations—specifically in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Cooper holds dual B.A. degrees in Political Science and Music Performance from American University in Washington, D.C.
