Silke Steiner has been the Director of the General Secretariat of the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI) and Head of the International Department of the Austrian Court of Audit since December 2020. Her focus areas are inter alia strategic affairs and priorities of INTOSAI, like the promotion of the independence of Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) and the contribution of SAIs to the implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). She also participated in several audits on the latter topic. Before joining the Austrian Court of Audit and the General Secretariat of INTOSAI in 2014, Silke worked at the Austrian Foreign Ministry, the European Commission in Brussels, and as Assistant Professor at the Institute for European Law at the University of Vienna. She holds a PhD in Law Studies from the University of Graz, Austria, a Master’s Degree in EU International Relations and Diplomacy from the College of Europe in Bruges, Belgium, and an MBA degree in Public Auditing from the Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration.
