The Honourable Murray Kellam practiced as a Barrister and was appointed Queens Counsel before being appointed a judge in 1993. In 1997 he was elevated to the Supreme Court and appointed to Court of Appeal in 2007. He resigned in 2009 and was appointed Acting Justice of Supreme Court of the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) from 2017 to 2019. Justice Kellam served as a member of the Supreme Court of Samoa. In 2005 Justice Kellam received the Order of Australia ‘[f]or service to the law through a range of judicial and legal training roles in Australia and the Asia-Pacific region, and to the community, particularly through support for ... disadvantaged people in Thailand and Melbourne.’ Justice Kellam served as Chief Integrity Commissioner, Tasmania from 2010 to 2015, and conducted an anti-corruption enquiry into Victoria Police human management. He has consulted for UNICEF in Mongolia and Myanmar, for Judicial Services Commission Maldives and for UNDP in Nepal, Turkey, and Myanmar where he assisted the Supreme Court draft a Code of Judicial Conduct.
