Firas is a young Tunisian entrepreneur and co-founder at CIVITAS DIGITAL. With a Computer Science Degree from the University of Science of Tunis and two years of part time work experience as a developer, he started his first software company in 2016 at his home island Djerba, Tunisia. As part of his company’s corporate social responsibility, Firas started a coding club in one of the local high schools where he taught 14-16 year olds programming and web development. In 2018, Firas and his co-founders started the “CIVITAS DIGITAL” project. They volunteered their time and resources to the municipality of Houmt Souk, Djerba, and opted to help them optimize their human and material resources and offer better services for citizens by providing them with digital tools and data visualization. In 2021, they launched the startup Civitas Digital, the first startup in the island of Djerba and the first Gov-tech Startup in Tunisia. For its efforts in facilitating access to rights, limiting corruption, and cost effectiveness, Civitas has won second place in The Hague Institute for Innovation of Law competition.
