Mr. Ahmed Ali is the Director of the Alternative Dipsute Resolution (ADR) Department at the Federal Ministry of Justice of Somalia and has more than 10 years of experience in customary and informal justice in Somalia. He has been collaborating with IDLO for many years and has led the ADR National Department since 2017. Currently, he is the main IDLO focal point for the implementation of the ADR programs in Somalia. He is in charge of ensuring oversight and coordination of the ADR Centres established through IDLO’s technical support and closely collaborates with IDLO to enhance the compliance of the ADR Centres with the international human rights standards and promote inclusiveness and women participation. He played a key role in the development and validation of the first ADR National Policy in 2016, ADR Centres Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Code of Conduct for ADR adjudicators, GBV Referral mechanism, and ADR SOPs for cases involving children (2018-2022). Previously, he worked at the Ministry of Justice as a Traditional Dispute Resolution (TDR) Officer and as the Acting Director of the Media and Communication department. Before that, he worked at Benadir University in Mogadishu Somalia as Deputy Dean and Lecturer at the Faculty of Computer Science & IT.
