Wildlife Justice Commission

The Wildlife Justice Commission understands the rule of law and the fight against transnational organised wildlife crime as inherently interlinked.

Our vision is a world without wildlife crime because governments effectively enforce the law. This enforcement requires capacity and political will, but when they are absent in a context of weak rule of law, citizens lose faith in the systems that are meant to protect them. Conversely, efforts to strengthen the approach towards wildlife crime will strengthen the rule of law in the targeted countries. The Wildlife Justice Commission thus commits to working with governments to hold individuals responsible for wildlife and ancillary crimes accountable, and will hold governments accountable if they fail to take the necessary steps to do so.
