Marivelton Barroso is a member of the Baré people, an indigenous leader from the Middle Black River region in Amazonas, and president of the Rio Negro Federation of Indigenous Organizations (Foirn), which represents the 23 indigenous peoples of the Rio Negro. Marivelton is one of the main names of the indigenous movement in Brazil in the fight for rights and is one of the creators of the Wayuri Network of Indigenous Communicators.
