John practices in business organization, finance, governance and sustainability at Fredrikson & Byron, a Minnesota-based law firm with other offices in Iowa, North Dakota, Mexico and China. From 2011 to 2014 he was Chair of the Corporate Governance Committee of the American Bar Association’s Business Law Section. Currently, John co-chairs the Section’s Corporate Social Responsibility Committee and its Working Group on the Rule of Law. John serves as a director of several nonprofit and for-profit corporations. He is a former member of the Board of Directors of the National Association of Corporate Directors (and co-founder of its Minnesota Chapter), the Center for International Private Enterprise, and a former Trustee of Carleton College. John is an Adjunct Professor, co-teaching a course on Corporate Governance at the University of St. Thomas Law School, Minneapolis, Minnesota, and frequently writes and speaks on corporate governance and sustainability subjects. His current focus is gaining recognition for the Rule of Law as a foundational element of the sustainability paradigm (ESG, CSR, DE&I, Human Rights and Social Justice). John is a member of the American College of Governance Counsel and the University of St. Thomas Twin Cities Artificial Intelligence Roundtable.
