Women's Observatory Against Disinformation and Fake News: Combatting disinformation as a form of digital gender-based violence

 

The Approach

The Women’s Observatory Against Disinformation and Fake News in Chile is a research-based advocacy model that aims to change the political and digital system. The project monitors the dissemination of disinformation as a form of digital and gender-based violence that aims to delegitimize women participating in public life. This project seeks to support current and future women-led political leadership and ensure the integrity of democratic processes in the digital age. Likewise, the Observatory seeks to recognize, analyze and evaluate disinformation campaigns against politically active women in order to mitigate their harmful impact.
