Local Child Protection Committees: ensuring children's access to protection, education, and justice in the state of Odisha
The Approach
The project will strengthen village-level Child Protection Committees (CPCs), community based groups of duty bearers, adolescents, and caregivers who are responsible for promoting a child-friendly and safe environment where all children's well-being, safety, and rights are protected. It is a community based monitoring system that creates a safety net by building awareness and promoting behavioral changes amongst parents and the community. There is (pandemic-induced) unsafe migration of girls in the tribal district of Mayurbhanj in Odisha, India. Building the capacities of CPC members there, to ensure the rights of children, is the project’s key focus.
