Tanya Primiani is the Co-Director for the WJP Rule of Law Index at the World Justice Project and manages planning and implementation of the Index team's global, thematic, and country-specific research projects. Prior to joining the WJP, Tanya worked at the World Bank Group for 11 years where she developed indicators on foreign direct investment, sustainable energy, the digital economy, and gender. During that time, she collaborated with the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development and UN Women on Sustainable Development Goal Indicator 5.1.1 (on legal frameworks and gender equality) and led an effort to build capacity in civil-society organizations working on women’s rights in Sub-Saharan Africa. Her research at the World Bank includes work on the impact on the legal framework on foreign direct investment in Latin America and an analysis of the impact of laws on opportunities for ethnic, religious, and sexual minorities.
Prior to that, Tanya also worked for the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) as the Assistant Director for the Americas Program, was a consultant with Siemens Management Consulting in New York, and worked at the United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI) in Turin.
Tanya holds a Master of Arts in International Affairs from the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS). She also has a Law Degree from the University of Montreal. She is fluent in Spanish, French, and Italian.
