Amir studied cinema majoring in direction and cinematography at the Centro de Capacitación Cinematográfica. He is a director and producer with experience in projects of fiction and documentary cinema, TV, and advertising. He has worked on at least twenty projects selected by major international film festivals, and has benefited from the Mexican Cinematographic Institute’s Filmmakers’ Incentives Program (Programa Estímulo a Creadores Cinematográficos del Instituto Mexicano de Cinematografía (IMCINE)). His work as a director/producer has been awarded among other distinctions such as: Ariel for Best Picture, at the Mexican Academy, Ariel for Best documentary film award, the José Rovirosa Award from the Mexican National University, for “Lo que quedó de Pancho," among others.
La 4ª Compañía is his his first feature length film as director, which was internationally distributed by Netflix as Original Content; a sports epic movie related to the Mexican Prison System.
