The Judicial Independence Observatory is an initiative created to monitor and analyze the internal and external factors that threaten judicial independence and due process in Guatemala. It disseminates information to the public through a website and reports concerning the risks that affect the work of judges and magistrates.

It is the academic center for research and analysis of public opinion, and political and social behavior, of the political science department of the University of the Andes. It manages the main repository of public opinion in the Americas: the Barometer of the Americas.
